An instance when I feel i’m in, “The Zone,” is during a run on a beautiful, Texan, summer day. Being kissed by the warmth of the sun, the cool breeze carrying the water from the resaca and brushing against my skin, the smell of freshly blooming jasmine flowers, the gentle gliding of colorful birds, the clear blue skies, the crispness in the air, my favorite songs joyfully filling my ears from the music player, the excited puppies in the yards wagging their tails upon my sight, the movement of my body feeling lighter with each step, the fruity taste upon my lips from my lip balm—makes me feel so in love with the moment. Not realizing I had been running for over two hours, my mind craved to keep going. I felt completely free. I felt completely at peace. It was my zone.

A Poem tributing a Mother’s love- “Truth”

All mothers deserve to be acknowledged every day of the year. A mother’s love is a true blessing which lasts forever and nothing is more valuable than a mother’s love for her children, and no relationship can ever be as innate or profound. Although Mother’s Day was several days back, there really shouldn’t be only one day of the year for us to acknowledge and make our Mothers feel appreciated, so I thought I could write her a poem today; an ordinary Friday. I can’t begin thanking the good Lord enough for blessing me with such a sweet, thoughtful, creative, hardworking, and loving mother. I also pray to our Lord to grant her a long, peaceful, and happy life. One of the greatest joys in my life is having her as my mother and my treasured friend. So, here’s to you, Amma.

It has never been more profound,

A life time of “truth” I have found.

Our relationship is a very special bond,

Which can never be like a dry pond.

You are so much to me, mother,

The “truth” of my love for you is like no other.

You are a person I will always treasure,

Throughout my life, now, and forever.

You guided me like a light,

And inspired me to read and write.

Without God’s help we can never be wise,

Our inner “truth” needs to be pious and nice.

I do not know what I would do,

If in my life I have never seen you.

Let us not forget the “truth” of the love we share,

About each other, as we family we care.

Sometimes we would argue and shout at each other,

But most of the time we would get along with each other.

Some things keep changing and some stay the same,

But the “truth” of our love will remain an ever-glowing flame.

A winding path lies before,

A river’s bends it wore.

The journey started slows for none,

the sands of time fall one by one.

Each step creates a ripple,

Changing the course of fate a little.

The inner voice served as guide,

But a vision did it rarely provide.

What laid ahead remained unknown,

Amidst the dusk loomed the dawn.

The fire within raged ablaze,

Keen to clear the daze.

In the chase to see the end,

The present has condemned.

The moment that is passing by,

is saying its last goodbye.

Standing firmer on the ground,

Unveiled an image so profound.

The sight that bore before,

Revealed a glowing shore.

Lost in the charm ahead,

Tears conveyed the unsaid.

For once the haste ceased to be,

The heart broke free.

Basked in the warmth of the Sun,

The weight of the world becomes undone.

The chorus of the birds beam,

At the emerging of the sea bream.

The swooshing rhythm of waves abound,

the voice within calmly drowned.

Standing before this foaming sea,

Waters blue,

and I, anew.
