The Infamous Door

The Infamous Door

Here’s a comical poem portraying a household, pesky and painful, occurrence we are all too familiar with.

Darkness, darkness, everywhere,

Not a streak of light I see anywhere.

Into shadows I have taken form,

My existence I can’t quite confirm.

With my arms reaching out ahead,

Through the dark I lightly tread.

Each step placed in doubt,

As if by magic a hole will sprout.

My imagination running amok,

Startled by every stroke of the clock.

Ghosts, Goblins, Spirits may Be,

But what’s to fear is a door, you see!

With my foot I lead and go,

Into the door I jam my toe!

– Surely, Sherley
